Why most players stop at 2x

The speed menu you see belongs to the website's player, and most players only offer a few presets up to 2x. Underneath, every web video is an HTML5 <video> element with a playbackRate property, and Chrome accepts any rate from 0.0625 to 16. You just need a way to set it.

Option 1: The player's own speed menu

Look for a gear or a "1x" button in the player's controls. It's the easiest way, but it usually stops at 2x, the choice often isn't kept for the next video, and many sites have no speed menu at all.

Option 2: One line in the browser console

Open the page with the video and press F12 (or ⌘ + ⌥ + J on a Mac, Ctrl + Shift + J on Windows) to open the Console.
Type this and press Enter, with the speed you want:
