Privacy Policy

Video Keys is a Chrome extension that adds keyboard shortcuts and speed control to videos on web pages. This policy explains what the extension accesses, what it stores, and what it never does.
In short: nothing leaves your browser. The extension has no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing is ever sent to the developer or to anyone else.
What the extension accesses
- Web pages you visit. The extension runs on web pages so it can find the video on the page and control it. It looks only at video elements and, for fullscreen, at the labels of the page's fullscreen button. It does not read, copy or store the text, images or other content of the page.
- Key presses. It reacts to its shortcut keys (such as Space, the arrow keys, K, J, L, M and F) while a video is in view. It ignores keys while you type in a text field, and it never records or stores what you type.
- The current site's address. When you open the extension's popup, it reads the address of the current tab to show the site name and to apply that site's settings.
What the extension stores
| Data | Where |
|---|---|
| The sites where you turned the extension off (site names only, such as example.com) | Chrome's synced storage, so the setting follows you to your other computers when Chrome sync is on |
| The playback speed you chose for each site (site name and speed only) | Chrome's storage on this computer |
It does not store your browsing history, the pages you watch, or anything about the videos themselves.
What the extension never does
- It never sends, sells or shares any data.
- It never collects personal information, browsing history or usage statistics.
- It never shows ads or uses data for any purpose other than controlling videos.
- It never loads or runs code from the internet. All of its code is included in the extension.
Deleting your data
- Turn the extension back on for a site to remove that site from the "off" list. Choose 1x speed to remove the saved speed for a site.
- Removing the extension from Chrome deletes everything it stored.
